Great read for parents of children who struggle with Dyslexia. You are not alone.A great look at a typical experience in our education system for a student with a language based disability, Dyslexia. The struggles are sadly so typical of our education system. We are throwing away our best and brightest students. Why can’t Johnny read? Because his school doesn’t use an Orton-Gillingham based reading program for all students. It would save our districts millions of dollars of special education funding if these kids were identified and helped in kindergarten instead of the typical wait until they fail, wait until they have no self esteem left. I think the only thing missing in this book was a list of Orton-Gillingham based reading programs scientifically proven to work. Wilson, Barton reading and spelling, Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell’s LIPS program, and many others found on the international dyslexia association’s website.
“This book is a MUST READ to empower you, the parent, to advocate for your child’s education.”

“This book is for any parent with kids in the school system. It is extremely well written and demonstrates the ups and downs of one boy’s path to success.”
“The dropout rate for US high school students is almost 25%! Read about one mother’s fight for her child against a system that has little interest in teaching and learning.”
“As a young single mom with a bright boy who was not getting the education that met his needs, I needed this book desperately because the school was definitely not there for me. Please take a moment to like and share with your community. Thank you Elaine Mellon for sharing your expertise with others.”
“Awesome Book!! Awesome author!!”
“I just finished your book and love it. A very honest look at this crazy system called public school. I was very surprised that you didn’t win your case. I felt confident that you would when I was reading your story.”
